Club History
The Paynesville Motor Cruiser Club was formed in August 1980. An approach was made to the Bairnsdale Shire in the early eighties with a view to establishing a club house in the vicinity of the present clubhouse overlooking Mc Millan Strait and Shire representatives were brought around by boat to view the area.In July 1989 Council consent was sought for a multi - use facility in the Slip Bight Marina - in conjunction with the berth owners in the newly established Slip Bight Marina.
A preliminary meeting was held with the Shire in September 1990, at which the club re-affirmed it's desire to share a multi - use facility in the Slip Bight Marina complex.
During 1991 the first draft plan was produced. Negotiations were held with the Shire, the Department of Planning and the Department of Conservation and Natural Recourses and adjustments made to the plans.
In September 1992 the Coastal Management and co - coordinating committee approved the project and set conditions.
In July 1993 the building of the present clubhouse was commenced.
The club house opened for trading on April 1st 1994, and was officially opened on 13th June 1994.
